Ex Senate President Seeks Justice For Rape – Murder Victim, Blessing Olajide


Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former President of the Nigerian Senate has joined well meaning Nigerians to call for Justice for Miss Blessing Olajide who was raped and murdered.

Olajide Omowumi Blessing, 300- level Agricultural Science Department of the University of Ilorin, was allegedly raped to death by yet to be identified criminals.

A report by the police narrated the death of the deceased saying ; “The deceased stayed with her elder sister. The elder sister came back from work at about 06:00pm on Tuesday, saying that she had tried severally to reach her on phone but couldn’t as the phone kept ringing.

“She came back from work to meet the door of her apartment locked and couldn’t gain entry despite repeated knocks on the door. She then called some neighbours who helped to break open the door.

“They all met the deceased lying dead on the floor when they entered with her two hands tied to the back and her mouth gagged. She was met naked, bruises were noticed on her private part, her mouth was covered among others.

“Also, a note said to have been written on a piece of paper was placed on her chest containing a message, “Unilorin doesn’t forgive”.

Bukola Saraki in his condolence message broadcasted via his Twitter handle said;


“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the rape and killing of Miss Blessing Olajide, a 300-level student of Agricultural Science at the University of Ilorin”.

“This act, which is evil, disgusting, and despicable in every sense, must be promptly investigated by the Police and the school authorities — so that the perpetrators are brought to justice”.

“The Kwara State government must work to ensure that this act does not go unpunished — as this will serve as a deterrent in the future and will assuage the fears of young women across our state who want to pursue their education”.

“It is my hope that the family of Miss Olajide finds the strength from Almighty God that they need at this difficult time as they mourn the passing of their young and promising daughter and sister” .
