PWAN: Increasing Women’s participation in the Political process

An event put together by Partners West Africa Nigeria(PWAN) which was convened for women’s political participation in Nigeria themed; Beyond Voting: Increasing women’s participation in the political process.

This was a one day convergence of mentors and mentees – Political leadership and mentorship program for young women which held at the Bon Hotel Elvis, Abuja, Nigeria.

The event began with a charging opener bt Kemi Okenyodo, the Executive Director, PWAN toning the deliberation with the goals and purpose.

The keynote address by Dr Ebere Ifendu, President, Women in Politics Forum put a direction, template and attitude to women participating in politics while sharing her experiences and inspiring attendees.

The panel session well package with notable and resource personalities; Hon. Favour Tomomewo – Member Ondo House of Assembly, Hon. Adaora Onyechere – Head, Women and Gender Affairs Cluster Committee AU-ECOSOCC, Rahila Dauda – Young Women in Politics, Sunday Afolabi – International Republican Institute, Princess Hamman-Obels – Initiative for Research, Innovation and Advocacy in Development(IRIAD).

Discussants went in depth, analytical and practical, on the topic; shaping the future for women in Nigeria through political representation modeling after achievable goals.

Notable, was the presence of our upcoming female politician born to an astutely powerful, inspiring and resourceful woman, Abiodun Essiet, President, African Young Female Advisers Initiative (AYFAI) such a beauty; Accept my condolences on the demise of your husband. All will be well.
